Ayodya Resort Bali Appointed as the Hotel Headquarters for the Committee of the First Asian Beach Games

(Indonesia, Bali) --- Ayodya Resort Bali was proud to be appointed as the official hotel headquarters for the committee of the first Asian Beach Games, which took place from the 18th – 26th of October 2008.

The opening ceremony for the Games was held in Bali on October 18th at Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park, attracting almost 3000 athletes from 45 countries and regions in Asia. Jacques Rogge, the President of the International Olympic Committee, and Indonesia's President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, together with the participating athletes, were present at this event.

The contenders participated in a total of 17 sports and two demonstration sports over nine days at four world-renowned beaches, namely Kuta Beach, Nusa Dua, Sanur Beach and Serangan Island. Ayodya Resort Bali's beach area was the arena for the wood ball competition.

The biennial Asian Beach Games, together with the Asian Games, the Asian Winter Games and the Asian Indoor Games, organized by the Olympic Council of Asia, are four major sporting events in Asia. The second Asian Beach Games will be hosted by Oman in 2010, and the third by Haiyang, in East China's Shandong Province, in 2012.

During the Asian Beach Games, the Ayodya Resort Bali welcomed many VIP guests from within four client groups, including the Olympic Council of Asia, the International Sports Federation, the Asian Sports Federation, and the National Olympic Committee. The Resort was designated as the Central Command for the Games with meeting rooms allocated not only for meetings but also for use as offices. The Samudera Room was the office of the Olympic Council of Asia; the Ballroom was used as the centre for the National Olympic Committee and also for the Olympic Council of Asia's meetings. The Ballroom Terrace was the chosen site for the seven promotional booths of the future host countries of the Asian Beach Games.

Mr. Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al Sabah, President of the Olympic Council of Asia, was a VIP guest at Ayodya Resort Bali during the entire duration of the Games. He is also a member of the International Olympic Committee as President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee and Kuwait Football Association. He stayed in the Kausalya Suite at The Ayodya Palace wing of the Resort – a dreamy, 75-room, private retreat within the hotel – and reported that he was most satisfied with the standard of accommodation, service and safety at Ayodya Resort Bali.

Presenting luxurious accommodation and facilities, a world class butler service, private check-in, and complimentary food and beverage presentation throughout the day, the Ayodya Palace is ideal for guests who require a more private, sophisticated and individual option to the main resort.
