KOSAIDO COUNTRY CLUB

Location: Singaraja (Pancasari village)
Bali
Handara Kosaido Country Club is in Pancasari Village,
between Bedugul and Singaraja, in north central
Bali, an hour from the Ngurah Rai International
Airport. At an altitude of 14,846 feet (1,142
meters ) above sea level, highland temperatures
average 8 to 16 degrees celcius cooler than the
island's southern area. The public course is designed
by Peter Thompson, Michael Wolderidge & Associates.
The par 72,6,434-yard (5,93-meter) course is surrounded
by vertical crater walls covered in lush vegetation.
Volcanic cones make for a dramatic backdrop with
clear blue lake water in the foreground. Fairways
are carpeted with a blend of Kentucky Bluegrass,
lending a gentle blue lake hue which distinguishes
the course from the surrounding vegetation. The
greens are ringed with white sand bunkers.
At 450-yards (415 meters), the
par 4, hole 3 doglegs left, its fairway divided
by a stream that rushes off the mountain backdrop.
The 15th hole, a par 5 of 500 yards (462 meters),
is demanding and memorable. A bunker in the heart
of the fairway is modelled on the famous Principal's
Nose on Saint Andrews Old Course.
The clubhouse has a bar and restaurant, health
club and fitnes center, traditional Japanese baths,
tennis courts and a pro shop. |
